Finish selection / 05

Confirm exposure before selecting polished, black or galvanised nails

Coastal Durban and Cape Town, humid storage, inland Gauteng warehouses and dry mining or agricultural locations do not create the same exposure. Select the finish from the application, storage period and buyer-approved corrosion requirement.

  • Roofing/outdoor: confirm coating type, coating target, washer or cap and expected exposure.
  • Indoor/general: polished or black finishes may suit some applications when the buyer accepts the conditions.
  • Warehouse/storage: review inner protection, carton construction, pallet wrap and ventilation.

South Africa import checkpoint / 06

Confirm SARS registration, tariff and applicable standards

South African importers must declare imported goods to SARS Customs and should confirm importer registration, the correct tariff classification, duties, VAT and supporting documents. Standards or permits depend on the exact product and use; do not assume a generic nail description determines compliance.

Importer and clearing-agent checklist

  1. 1. Importer status: confirm SARS importer registration and whether the customs broker will submit the declaration.
  2. 2. Classification: verify the tariff code from the exact nail material, construction and intended use before shipment.
  3. 3. Standards: confirm the applicable SANS standard, project specification, SABS mark requirement or test method with the buyer.
  4. 4. Controls: check the current SARS restricted-goods list and whether ITAC or NRCS approval applies; do not assume an import permit is required.
  5. 5. Documents and marking: approve invoice, packing list, bill of lading, origin, product labels, barcodes and carton marks.

Dingzhou Best can provide agreed commercial documents, samples, packing details and production records. The South African importer or its authorized agent remains responsible for classification, permits, certificates, duties and clearance. This page is a sourcing guide, not legal or customs advice.

Shipping & loading / 07

FOB planning for Durban and national distribution

Nail cargo is weight-dense. We review pack weight, master-carton count, pallets, mixed sizes and container payload before recommending FCL or LCL. Durban is the main planning reference for inland Gauteng distribution; Cape Town, Ngqura or another port should be selected only with the buyer’s customs broker and forwarder.

Frequently asked questions

Which nails can you supply for South Africa?

Our range includes common wire nails, roofing nails, concrete nails, black steel nails, lost head nails and coil or pallet nails. Availability is confirmed from the complete specification.

What is the minimum order quantity?

The normal MOQ is 5 tons or 200 cartons. Trial orders are supported when the product, size mix and packing are practical for production.

Can I receive samples before ordering?

Yes. Samples can be supplied for quality evaluation. A basic sample fee is normally charged, and its return can be discussed when a formal order is placed.

Can you make private-label packs for South African distributors?

Yes. OEM/ODM can cover the product specification, inner pack, master carton, brand logo and approved label artwork.

Can you supply galvanised clout nails in South African pack sizes?

Yes. Send the metric length and diameter, head diameter, zinc-coating requirement, quantity, 500g or 1kg pack, master-carton count, barcode and artwork.

Can masonry nails be packed 25 × 1kg or 50 × 500g?

These are established local pack structures and can be reviewed for OEM production. Confirm the nail specification, individual pack material, label, units per carton and acceptable carton weight.

Can the order ship by FCL or LCL to Durban?

Yes. Both FCL and LCL sea shipment are supported. The final plan should consider cargo weight, pallet use, port choice, inland destination and the buyer’s customs broker.

Do steel nails require an ITAC permit or NRCS approval?

Do not assume they do or do not. The importer or customs broker should classify the exact product and check the current SARS restricted-goods list, ITAC controls and any applicable NRCS compulsory specification before shipment.

What do you need for an accurate FOB quote?

Send the product, dimensions, material or finish, quantity, packing method, OEM artwork needs and loading schedule. A sample or drawing is recommended when any feature is critical.
